About

YAPA means “something extra”—a little gift from the merchant to the buyer.

More than a name, it represents the extra time, dedication, heart, and soul that go into every piece we create.

Founded in 2019 by Bolivian designer Bernarda Peláez, YAPA was born from a desire to share a different expression of Bolivia with the world—one rooted in its extraordinary natural fibers, rich traditions, skilled craftsmanship, and vast cultural heritage.

Bernarda saw an opportunity to reimagine alpaca knitwear through a modern, cosmopolitan lens, bringing the craftsmanship of the Andes together with the contemporary energy of New York.

Designed in New York and handcrafted in Bolivia, YAPA celebrates Baby Alpaca and other exceptional natural fibers through distinctive knitwear made slowly and thoughtfully by skilled artisans.

Every piece carries a little something extra.

Extra time. Extra care. Extra heart. That is YAPA.
